#004, WORDS STARTING WITH 'D'

daanam = charity

Usage:
daatavyam iti yad daanam diiyatee anupakaarin`ee
dees`ee kaalee ca paatree ca tad daanam saattvikam smrutam. Bhagavad Gita 17-20. Meaning: The charity which is given to a fully eligible person not in return for some help, in alignment with the country, and time, that charity is called Potentfully virtuous.

Dagdha (adj.) = 1. born; 2. burnt.

Daivam(n) = 1. God. 2. Fate.

Dakshata (n) : 1. Dexterity.

dambham : 1. hypocrisy;

Dantam : tooth.
Dantachchatam : A mark made by a tooth-bite, particularly during sexual intercourse.

Darduurika (n) = Frog.

Usage:
2-3-20 of Maha Bhagavata: "Jihvaasatii dardurikeeva suuta
na coopagaayati urugaaya-gaathaha." The tongue of a person who does not sing the praise of the Godhead will be useless like that of a frog.

Durdinam : A cloudy day (regarded as a bad day).
Durgaa (feminine) = Goddess named "Durga".
durgam = hill fort difficult to approach and penetrate;

dushkruta = evil deeds;

DVA
dvaar = door;
dvaidha = two, double;
dvamdva = dual, double, two;
dvija = twice born (Braahmin caste)
dravya = material; money;
drooha = treachery, disloyalty.
