daanam = charity
Usage:
daatavyam iti yad daanam diiyatee anupakaarin`ee
dees`ee kaalee ca paatree ca tad daanam saattvikam smrutam. Bhagavad Gita 17-20. Meaning: The charity which is given to a fully eligible person not in return for some help, in alignment with the country, and time, that charity is called Potentfully virtuous.
